Mark Easely provides in-depth study on the issues of illegal migration and the need for comprehensive immigration reform to manage the issue of illegal migrants. He argues in favour of the reform to ensure that the contributing and hardworking immigrants be helped and the one causing the trouble should be dealt severely. Thus Easley tries to raise the par by wishing for a balance between the dual poles of political benevolence and strict government action. This article is greatly illuminating for my research.

The World Development Report 2009 provides a look into the issue of illegal immigration from the global perspective. The statistics provided for the volume of illegal migration and its impact on the economies of the developing countries as Thailand and Myanmar. The report dwells on the incidence of illegal migration and its impact on the families of the migrants who tend to be vulnerable due to the lack of social benefits as vaccinations, Medicare and proper schooling for the children. Thus the tangential issues of lack of schooling and Medicare are aggravated due to irregular and unregulated migration. This information helps in providing supplementary information for my research into migration issues.

This is a research paper by Fennely and Orfield, both from the University of Minnesota, who have published their research into the problems of integration of immigrants from Asian, African, Latino and East European background in the areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The impediments that are identified include racial profiling and negative bias among the US born residents. The paper produces good data and relevant questions that shed light on the issues faced by immigrants on day to day basis.

This study supports the theory that while the economic impact of illegal immigration is relatively small the gains in terms of labour and support systems for various industries that flourish on this labour are high. Thus this paper looks on the positive side of immigration, irrespective of the legality issues. Hanson focuses on the illegal immigration of Mexicans to the US and the resulting issues and counter issues and this is valuable from the point of view of this research at hand.
