Paleolithic Art (35000-8000 B.C)
Among the first known art forms, in this art, there were human depictions that were depicted on cave walls and were beautifully decotrated. In Malta, depictions of woman were found with precise details and beautifully crafted angles that dates back to the Ice age period. There were sculptures found of various stages of women from their childhood., pregnancy, to old age phases. (Kilmer, 112)

Egyptian Art (2500-500 B.C)
They can be considered as successors to Mesopotamian civilization but chose to reside in ancient region of North EastAfrica. Their human art is similar but much elaborated than that of their predessors. Among most well known figures is the art of Horus, a ruler chosen by their Gods who later attained the status of God himself. He was depicted in statues, abstract art and other forms throughout Egypt temples and tombs.
Greek Art (500-50 B.C)
In ancient Europe, Greeks formed a comprehensive civilization that can be compared to Egyptians. They had developed various art forms in which their human sculptures are most well known such as the Cyclops and Zeus. Hercules was also a famous art form found in various paintings and sculptures. All the art depicted their culture and cuctoms. (Dana, 69)
Roman Art (50 B.C to 550A.D)
Greece was conquered by Romans who brought their own art forms that were also infulenced by Greeks. Augustus is a famous human art example from Romans that was a precious to Ramans as Hercules was to Greeks.
Medieval Art (700-1800 A.D)
Among more famous of medieval arts that gained global reputation was Gothic style of art forms which are basically Christian art forms depicting the images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Marry. These two figures have also a religious value to Christians and are continued to be developed in various Chappels and Churches till today. (Antony, 7)
Modern Art (1800-2000)
In the modern art, humans have been portrayed in a brave yet innovative manner. This pattern seems to culminate all the art history behind it. We see the like on Monalisa where a smile was captured like never before. A work that gave Picasso a legendary status over night. There are more to this where human art is shown with the expression of true emotions. The miser that is hidden behind the African child who is shown collecting bread pieces from the ground is remarkable. One must appreciate the artist for what he has achieved through a stroke of brush. The life like work has been much appreciated due to its originality and the way child shows his emotions through his eyes only.
Modern art forms saw the induction of new methods and concepts that were not thought of previously. Cubism and Mondrian methods were included in figurative and endorsed whole heartedly. This gave birth to a whole new dimension which included the forms of geometric art forms. The concept of expressionism has seen another dimension in times of human suffering and a society that has little value to the human behavior and emotions. Many artists have concentrated their thoughts to work under the banner of expressions, which seems like a regular concept but has deep meanings and a specific color tone and component which is blended by dark colors to produce a deep and sorrowful impression. Such impressions are widely used in human figurative art forms by a wide variety of artists around the world.
An artist from South Africa, Robert Mbangwa is known to have created some of the best figurative art works with a deep tone of sorrowful expressionism. In his famous painting “The Misery”, he shows a boy collecting bread pieces to kill his hunger, the facial expressions are meaningful. There is a plea on his face to the modern world community who seems to have forgotten that there is a large section of human population residing in this world that have little to eat, less to drink. Overall, it is a sad feeling to see such a powerful medium going in a decline. A medium that has served the humanity well seems to have little no purpose in the age of modern electronic and print media. This matter requires attention from authorities so that it can be transferred to our coming generations with all glory.
