A study conducted by Tran and Weinraub found that over sixty three percent of children who are below five years are being catered for by caregivers other than their maternal parents. The study also found out that access to this high quality day care gave peace of mind to the working mothers and the child potential was maximized while extenuating possible effects of being catered for by multiple care settings and providers on language development and potential overall recognition. Most mothers are forced to decide whether they should go back to work or stay with their babies after giving births. Most mothers opt to take their children for day care services when the children are five months old. Most people discourage this and argue that children should be catered for by their mothers at this age. However I disagree with this and will seek to prove that quality baby care is of benefit to the child as well as the mother. To the mother she is able to work outside the home environment without having to worry about whether the baby’s growth will become redundant because the day care services maximize the child potential, for instance Fox a reporter with Reuters reported that parents who had been worried about subjecting their young children to day care got heartening news because a study U.S National Institute of Health showed that children who had high quality care saw many academic benefits. The study showed that most children who had high quality childcare performed slightly well on measures of academic and cognitive years of achievement later as teenagers. The researchers also reported that these kids were more active than children who were in low quality child care. The quality of child care mostly demands of providers to interact more with the children rather than just leave children to wander around on their own talking to no one (Fox 2010).

The provider’s warmth cognitive stimulation of the child and support also played a major role in the development of the child and thus if a child is placed in a child care where children are frequently talked to by the providers and showed a lot of love, they tend to develop cognitive recreation better than children who are raised by their mothers. Child care thus benefits the child, mother and society as a whole because work doesn’t stop because a mother is raising her child. Most quality day cares heighten the academic performance of children because the child is able to acquire pre-school skills that prepare them to cope well once they join learning institutions. The study also revealed that there is a good association between early childcare and later academic achievement since this behavior is reflected in childhood and teenage years.

This study proves that quality day care services do not just affect the child negatively but they are also of benefit to the child and the mother. Many infant mothers are employed and thus they arrange child care with day care providers as proposed by Puhn and Kurtz. Thus child care comes in to assist most mothers. The only thing needed is for the mother to ensure that the quality of child care is high. Most mothers opt to take their children for day care services when the children are five months old. The researchers also reported that these kids were more active than children who were in low quality child care. Child care thus benefits the child, mother and society as a whole because work doesn’t stop because a mother is raising her child. (Puhn & Kurtz 1999).
